Beginnings [OPEN]

It's a shitty way to start your day--waking up stiff, cold, and wet from a morning drizzle. Jason blinks, groans, and rubs his eyes, trying to quickly adjust to the blinding sun. As soon as he's awake, Alfredo is on his lap, soaking wet but happy all the same. The dog licks some dirt off his face while Jason chuckles. "No, Alfredo. I'm not food." 

He sits up, stripping off his jacket and stuffing it into his backpack as he speaks to Alfredo. "Think we could spring for some coffee today? It'd be nice to have something hot." He reaches down to pat the dog's head as he wags his tail, a gesture Jason takes as a push toward coffee. He double checks his wallet and grins. "Coffee it is then."

The new town is easy enough to navigate and pretty soon, he's found what appears to be a coffee shop. Quill. Looks like any other small town coffee shop he's visited, but he's pleasantly surprised when he steps inside after tethering Alfredo to a bike rack outside. It looks like a nice place he can stow away during a rainy day. 

He orders coffee, black, and a muffin, going back outside to sit on the curb next to Alfredo. As he sips the coffee, humming happily, he holds out the muffin for the dog to nibble on.

Before he knows what's going on, there's a giant beast of a dog nudging the back of Jason's head. He turns around, grinning, and pets the strange dog. Alfredo's on his feet immediately, tail wagging as if he's asking permission to make a new friend. "Hey, buddy. You're a cutie, aren't you?"

Osha wuffs happily, leaning heavily on the man and bending down to sniff the other dog.

Lara laughs and smiles at the man. "If she lays on you and you suffocate, you've only got yourself to blame, i'm afraid."

The dog's butt is practically on Jason's lap and he smiles. "What's her name? This guy's Alfredo." Alfredo's tail is wagging more than Jason's ever seen it, sniffing the much larger dog and headbutting her.

[asharpertongue]

"Her names Osha." She smiled and held out a hand for Alfredo to sniff and then petted him a little. "He's a cute little guy." She realises she might have insulted the mans companion and holds out a hand. "I don't mean that the way it sounded. It's just every animal is little in comparison to-..." She gestures at Osha who is currently knocking Alfredo about with her paws while the smaller dog barks delightedly.

"She's gorgeous." Jason chuckles as he gets to his feet, brushing off the back of his jeans. "No worries. He's not offended as long as he gets some of your attention every now and then." He grins as Alfredo playfully nips at Osha. "I think they made friends. I'm Jason, by the way."

[asharpertongue]

"I think you might be right." She holds out her hand. "Lara Quinn."

[jasonwright]

He shakes her hand before stuffing his hands in his pockets again. "Nice to meet you, Lara. And Osha, of course."

[asharpertongue]

She smiles. "So you're new here, yes? I'm good with faces and i'd remember yours, I think."

[jasonwright]

"I am. Arrived late last night."

[asharpertongue]

She smiled. "Mysterious. I like it." She gave him and exaggerated once over, eyes narrowing. "Hmmm...Let me guess. Billionaire playboy philanthropist?"

[jasonwright]

He chuckles. "You caught me. I just like to downplay my riches."

[asharpertongue]

She nods sagely. "I could tell. This working man thing is all an act. I get it. " She looks down at his stone cold coffee. "I'm going inside to get a coffee? Could you watch Osha for a second? I don't want to separate her from her new favourite."

[jasonwright]

"Saw right through me," he smiles. "Of course." Jason nods before sitting back down on the curb, smiling as Alfredo and Osha play.

[asharpertongue]

"Thanks, I'll be right back." She dashes inside and gets a pair of huge coffees, before coming back out. "Here." She held out a coffee. "A thank you. And a welcome to Siren Cove."

He's surprised when she hands him a coffee, but he doesn't protest. Lara seems like she won't take no for an answer. "Thanks, Ms. Quinn. You didn't have to do that."

[asharpertongue]

"I did. Because now i'm going to have bring Osha round to have play dates because she's gone and fallen in love." She waves a hand at where Alfredo and Osha and laying together in the sun.

[jasonwright]

Jason laughs. "We're screwed now. Alfredo will be looking for her now."

[asharpertongue]

"Bless them. Osha is clingy too. I'm afraid we're doomed to an acquaintance."

[jasonwright]

"Sorry 'bout dooming you and all. Curse of being a pet owner I guess."

[asharpertongue]

Lara chuckles. "It's true." She sits at one of the tables outside and makes an inviting gesture at the other chair. "Unless you have somewhere to be?"

[jasonwright]

He takes her offer, sitting at the chair across the table from her. Which felt weird, and he may look a tad bit uncomfortable. "Not til tomorrow, ma'am--er--Ms. Quinn," he corrects himself.

[asharpertongue]

"Lara, please." She says waving. "So what do you do then, Jason?"

[jasonwright]

"Lara," he repeats, getting used to the sound of it. "Manual labor, mostly. Currently working the boats. Lobster season and all that."

[asharpertongue]

"Oh really? Then you might just be the man i'm looking for." She beams because she was going to ask around for a handyman for the more minor repairs to her employees houses after the Hydra. This is her lucky day. "How are you at small home repairs? Things like roofing, replacing boards, fixing decks and windows?"

[jasonwright]

"I have a lot of experience in constriction, actually." He nods. "I can do all that."
