Iris surprises him. Either she's very quiet or his senses are off, or maybe both. He shakes his head, looking at her, and feels bad she's seeing him like this. At least she manages to set the groceries down without dropping them or he'd feel bad about that to.
"I'm okay, really. Just got into a fight," he shrugs.
