 After the rescue boats arrived, Iris and Jason, along with every other survivor rescued from the island, were taken to SC Memorial. It was only after he saw Iris fall asleep from the medication that Jason allowed himself to be taken away by doctors. They took x-rays to make sure the cut hadn't gone too deep and damaged anything more than just his skin. Satisfied his stitches were well done and all he needed was rest, the doctors gave Jason a bed and knocked him out for the evening. Once he woke up, they re-wrapped his bandages and released Jason. 

He's been awake for about an hour now, waiting outside Iris' room as the doctors do their final checks before they're willing to release her. He's nervous, drumming his fingers against the frame of the hospital door. He just wants Iris to walk out of that room, cast on her foot, and pain free. He just wants to get her home, because she needs to be home.

She takes the plate from him before arching up and kissing him, hard pressed not to grin against his lips. "You are... I just..." Iris sighs happily, shaking her head and taking a bite of the eggs. A tiny moan of happiness slips out. "These are amazing. You are amazing."

Jason kisses her back, lifting his legs up onto the bed and lying down close to Iris. He beams when she says the eggs are amazing, happy to make her smile.

"I just wanted to give back to you as much as I can."

"Stop that," she tuts, around a mouthful of cinnamon toast. She reaches over and pinches his nose. "You have nothing you have to give back for, silly."

He wrinkles his nose as she pinches it, batting her away. "You put a roof over my head and feed me. You're injured. And we had a great night last night. You do so much for me, I like to do things for you sometimes."

"I do that because I like you, dummy," she scoffs, blushing slightly. "And I can still walk. I have crutches around here somewhere..."

"And I'll do some things because I like you too," he laughs. Jason leans over, kissing her shoulder.

Iris shivers at his kiss, shoving a piece of bacon in her mouth to quell her embarrassment. "Fine, fine," she mumbles around it. "But I still reserve the right to tell you you're silly."

She glances over at him as she finishes off the food and puts the plate on her bedside table. Her stomach is full but she feels... oddly hungry again, looking at him laid out beside her. Taking a burst of bravery, she leans down and presses an eager kiss to his lips. "Thank you."

"You always have the right to tell me that," he grins.

Iris takes him by surprise, leaning over to kiss him and Jason knows he did good. "You're very welcome," he says softly, kissing her back. He wraps an arm around her waist, his other hand reaching up to brush her hair out of her face.

Iris hums pleasantly against his lips, rather disgustingly happy right now. "I don't know what I did to deserve someone like you in my life, but I am very glad I did it," she informs him, pulling back to give him a silly grin.

He blushes slightly at her compliment, the thought of someone "deserving" him a whole new concept to Jason. "Please, you deserve every bit of good you get," he smiles at her.

She can't help but giggle at his blush, leaning in to press a light kiss against it. "Well, if I do, then you do too," she replies, lowering herself down to stretch up against him.

"Alright alright, I'll go along with that," he admits. Even Jason thinks he deserves a little bit of happiness after everything he's been through. And Iris brings him that happiness, and if he can do the same for her, that's all he wants.

He pulls her close to him, sinking into the bed as she stretches. "I"m really glad we met."

She wriggles happily against him, finding a comfortable way to lay. "Me too. I don't know if I can put into words how glad I am about that," she says, tilting her head up to smile at him. "And I'm glad you agreed to be my boyfriend. And that you stayed over here last night."

He rubs her back gently, feeling pretty at home in bed with her like this. After everything with the island, he feels lucky to be here with Iris. "I'm glad too. I'll stay whenever you want me to."

Iris has to bite down on her tongue to keep from asking him to stay every night. She doesn't want to push him into anything or make him uncomfortable. "Good. And you have an open invitation to stay over whenever you want to," she adds, resting her chin on his chest and drawing circles over his skin. "You don't even have to ask, just show up and come on in."

He smiles at her offer, thinking he may take her up on it every now and then. At first, he felt like an imposition to Iris, but she always makes him feel like he's wanted and welcome. "I'll remember that," he says, lifting a hand to brush through her hair. "I'm not really sure what to offer you since I don't have much, but...whatever you need. Let me know."

Iris tuts at that, pressing a soft kiss against his chest. "You don't need to offer me anything," she explains. "You just being here is plenty in return. It means I know you're safe and I..."

She trails off awkwardly, blushing slightly. "I feel safer with you around too."

Jason sits up, raising his brows at that. "You do?" Of course he already knew that Iris worried about him, even before they started dating. That's just how Iris is--she worries about her friends. But hearing that she feels safe with him makes him feel good.

He sits up and she slides off of his chest with a soft 'oof'. "I... yeah. You make me feel calm and safe," she mumbles, frowning at a piece of hair as she picks at an imaginary split end. "I don't know. You just do..."

He takes her hand from her hair, weaving their fingers together. "Well...I'm glad. I want you to always feel safe. And if you ever don't, just tell me and I'll be there."

Iris looks up at him, still red around her cheeks. "The same goes for you, okay? I'm not strong like you, but I'd do what I could to help you feel safe."

"You're not strong like me?" He laughs a little, shaking his head. "You went up against a harpy, Iris. And you saved my life and swam me back to safety." He looks at her with a bit of awe in his eyes. She continually amazes him.

Iris scoffs, flapping her hand dismissively. He can be so silly sometimes. "That was me all siren-y. Not normal me. Normal me isn't strong at all," she argues, rolling her eyes playfully at him.

"Siren-y Iris is still part of normal Iris," he adds, looking pointedly at her. "Your need to help and protect makes you go all siren-y."

"I dunno. It's weird to think of it as part of me," she shrugs, rolling onto her stomach and playing with the ends of his hair. "I spent most of my life completely oblivious to it. I forget its there, usually."
