After the rescue boats arrived, Iris and Jason, along with every other survivor rescued from the island, were taken to SC Memorial. It was only after he saw Iris fall asleep from the medication that Jason allowed himself to be taken away by doctors. They took x-rays to make sure the cut hadn't gone too deep and damaged anything more than just his skin. Satisfied his stitches were well done and all he needed was rest, the doctors gave Jason a bed and knocked him out for the evening. Once he woke up, they re-wrapped his bandages and released Jason.

He's been awake for about an hour now, waiting outside Iris' room as the doctors do their final checks before they're willing to release her. He's nervous, drumming his fingers against the frame of the hospital door. He just wants Iris to walk out of that room, cast on her foot, and pain free. He just wants to get her home, because she needs to be home.

"Nothing!" Jason knows he just said that in the least convincing way possible, but he's not going to let Iris know what's going through his head. Not yet anyway. Instead, he brushes a hand across her cheek.

"I...have some errands to run."

Iris rolls off of him onto the bed, looking at him with a mix of confusion and a bit of hurt. That 'nothing' had a distinct ring of untruthfulness to it and she doesn't know what could have happened to make him lie to her.

"Did I do something?" she asks, finding it hard to just... let it go. Oh god. Maybe she really did drive him off with her big fat mouth earlier.

He's out of the bed and pulling a shirt on when she asks that, sounding distinctly hurt and Jason turns around to look at her, confused.

"Did you do something? No, Iris, you didn't," he says, leaning over to kiss the top of her head. He takes her hands in his, rubbing them comfortingly. "I'll be gone ten minutes. And then I'll be back here. I promise."

"All right..." She doesn't exactly sound convinced but if he needs to do something then... Well, she won't stop him. "I'll see you then, I guess."

Iris lays back down in her bed, tugging the covers up over herself and curling up, once he's gone.

He's gone exactly how long he said he would be, literally running through town to run his errands. He honestly has no idea what the fuck he's even doing anymore, but he made a promise to Iris that he'd be back in ten minutes, so he'll be back in exactly ten minutes.

In eight, he's knocking on the door again, obviously out of breath and swearing a little as he waits for her to open the door.

She's gotten up and dressed and cleaned up a bit, even in the short time he's been gone. His knock startles her and she hobbles over, using the crutches as her good leg gets tired of supporting all her weight. Opening the door, she frowns, letting him in.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," he smiles, stepping into the apartment. He glances out the window of her kitchen and nods to himself. The sun has started setting.

"Um, wanna go outside with me?"

Iris scrunches up her nose, very confused now. "Yeah, sure?" she responds cautiously, following him out of the apartment and carefully shutting the door behind them. "Is everything okay?"

He has to smile about how cautious she's being, but Jason understands. He did make it awkward earlier after all. "Everything's okay." Offering her his hand, he starts to lead Iris up the stairs to the next floor where Kennedy lives. But he goes past Kennedy's door and the the staircase leading to the roof.

"Have you been up here before?"

She takes his hand, following him closely, her frown of confusion only deepening as they head for the roof. "No, not yet... I haven't spent much time at home, since I moved here," she admits.

He's not sure if that's good for him or not. On the one hand, she'll be completely surprised, but then she won't recognize what was there before and what Jason changed. Instead he nods and helps her up the stairs to the roof. But he blocks the door once they arrive, wincing at himself.

"Okay...I may have done something. And now I'm not sure if you'll like it."

Iris is having a hard time not giggling from nervousness right now. "What... did you do?" she asks, trying to peek around him.

He had started to open the door when she tries to peak around him.

"Well now I'm not going to show you," he grins, shutting the door and moving to completely block it.

She pulls back, gasping indignantly. "I want to see!" she protests, pouting up at him.

"No, you'll just make fun of me."

"No, I won't! Cross my heart!" she sighs, pouting harder now.

Jason makes an exasperated sigh, like she's twisting his arm right now. "Alright, alright." He opens the door, lifting his arm for her to duck under and pass through.

The rooftop isn't big, but Jason did find a nice little nook overlooking the sea to hang lights and set up a small table and chairs. There's plates of take-out food set out on the table along with flowers that reminded him of her. Mostly in red to go with her hair and siren-form. He really hopes she won't think it's all too cheesy, but seeing as very few people seem to have done things for Iris in her past, he hopes that she'll love every bit of it.

She passes him onto the roof and it takes her a moment to really process what she's seeing. She's fairly sure her heart just skipped a beat and a soft gasp slips out. "I... You did this?" Iris asks, turning to look at him in awe, tears prickling at her eyes.

Jason closes the door behind them, cautiously stepping on to the roof. "I did...yeah. Ten minutes."

Iris sniffs slightly, covering up the fact that she's wiping away a tear by tucking her hair behind her ear. "You are... I just... You're amazing," she sighs, trembling slightly from the intensity of the emotions she's feeling towards him right now. "I can't believe you did this. For me."

His smile brightens when he sees her reaction. She tries to hide wiping away a tear and he lets Iris believe he didn't see it. Moving closer to her, he stuffs his hands in his pockets.

"You take care of others all the time. You take care of me and Alfredo all the time. I just want to show you how much I appreciate you. Because I like you, Iris. A lot."

"I know you appreciate me, dummy!" she laughs tearily, dropping her crutches and flinging herself into his arms. She's properly crying now and hides it by crushing her face against his shirt. "You don't have to do this!"

Jason wraps his arms around her, rubbing her back. "I know, but I want to. I like doing things for you." He smiles as he kisses the top of her head.

Iris wipes at her eyes again, looking up at him. "You know I like you too, right? A lot. Like, a lot a lot," she says, her voice shaky as she laughs. Those aren't the words she wants to use right now, but she also doesn't want to scare him off by saying it before he does.

"Good," he laughs. "Because that'd make all this awkward if you didn't." Kissing her cheek, Jason takes her hand and leads her to the table, pulling out a seat for her. "Just an FYI, your rooftop has a pretty awesome view of the docks from here."
