After Summer Bash from Hell [Backdated, Closed]

It doesn't normally take long to put out the fire in a fire-pit, but Jason's a bit distracted at the moment. He wants to get downstairs and this stupid fire is keeping him from that. Iris has already gathered up all the s'more supplies and is waiting at the rooftop door for him and she looks eager to get out of here as well.

Finally the last of the flames die out and Jason's comfortable the fire won't rekindle. He grabs the blanket and pillows off the bench and follows Iris to the door.

"Alright," he smiles. "Ready when you are?"

"Well! If that's all..." she says, smiling blandly as she rolls off of him, gathering her clothes.

"Hey, wait a minute." Jason sits up and watches her. "Why you gotta leave me?"

"Well, if you only love me for my hair, why would I stay and cuddle with you?" she asks, grinning over her shoulder as she tugs on her underwear.

"I told you I'd tell you all the other things I love about you and you told me no compliments," he pouts.

Iris taps at her chin, thinking it over. "Hmmm... Fine. I'll lift the compliment ban. Just for now though," she acquiesces, trying not to chuckle at his pout.

Jason sits up a bit properly now, hugging a pillow. "Really?" He doesn't wait for her to change her mind though. "I love your soft pouty lips, you have the cutest butt I've ever seen, your cooking is amazing and you make it look easy, I love how unbelievably caring you are, and of course I love how your hair is stupidly soft and it's the perfect shade of red."

Iris blushes bright red, reaching up to cover it up with a hand. She reaches out with the other hand, searching for his. "I love you," she admits, sounding slightly choked up with emotion. She's never had anyone say anything so nice to her and it's almost overwhelming how much it affects her.

He didn't expect her react this way, honestly, but Jason takes her hand and pulls Iris back to the couch with him. "I love you too, sweetheart," he says, kissing her.

She kisses him back eagerly, even as her face burns. "I don't... handle compliments well," she explains, letting out a strained giggle. "But that was the nicest thing anyone's ever told me..."

Jason pulls Iris onto his lap and kisses her a few more times. "I kinda figured that one out early on, love. I'm more than happy to say nice things about you whenever you'd like."

Iris nuzzles against him, feeling a bit like her heart will burst from the amount of love in it. "Never ever. I might explode from the blood going to my face."

"I definitely don't want that." He leans back into the couch, pulling her with him. "You'll just have to remember everything I just said."

She squirms slightly in his lap, getting comfortable before settling. "I have a memory like an elephant. I promise I will remember it all very well, okay."

Jason smiles and kisses the top of her head. "Good. Can I make a bit of a confession? And promise you won't laugh?"

That makes her curious and she raises an eyebrow at him but nods. "Cross my heart, I won't laugh."

He plays with the hem of the pillow a bit, distracting himself as he speaks. "I've never told anyone that I love them before. I mean, not even my family. That sounds sad, but I meant it to more tell you how much you mean to me."

Iris can feel her heart flutter and her stomach clench with the intensity of the emotions she's feeling right now. Burying her face in his chest, she shakes her head. "You're going to make me cry..."

He panics a little when she suddenly buries her head in his chest and mentions crying. Jason squeezes her. "I'm sorry. I don't want to make you cry."

The panic in his voice coaxes a laugh out of her, even if its choked with emotion. "No! It's not a bad cry it's just... That's the most wonderful thing I've ever heard. And I never thought someone could love me so much. So I'm just... having a lot of emotions and when I have a lot of emotions I don't know what to do so... I cry."

"Oh." He actually sighs, his shoulders falling as his worry subsides. He looks at her in adoration. "You can totally cry then."

Iris had been holding it back fairly well, for her, but that look and his permission set her off and she starts to laugh as tears stream down her cheeks. Burying her face in his neck, she nuzzles into his skin. "I love you so, so much, Jason. And it awes me that you love me too."

He can't help but smile as Iris lets her emotions out. Rubbing her back, he turns and kisses her forehead. "It all feels like a really great dream," he admits with a laugh. "I honestly didn't think I'd ever find a place to stay for long, but I never want to leave you."

"I never want you to leave me," she hiccups, pulling back to wipe at her eyes. "I don't know what I'd do without you... You make everything feel just... right."

"I won't ever leave you, baby." Jason honestly didn't even want to imagine<./em> the idea of not being with Iris. She's been his world for the past month. He's managed on his own just fine for almost twenty years. But Iris has made his life much more meaningful and happy.

Iris reaches up, cupping his face in her hands and pressing a kiss against his lips, the intensity of her feelings for him right now clear. "Good," she sighs, brushing his hair back from his face. "It probably sounds silly but... I just want to experience everything I can with you."
