You got that James Dean day dream look in your eye {Iris}

 Jason had promised to take Iris out on a date one day. And now that everything seemed to be getting back to normal in town, they agreed that tonight would be the night. With a half day of work put in at the shop, Jason headed back to the apartment for a shower and a change of clothes when he saw his reflection in the mirror and realized just how much he'd let himself go. So with Alfredo by his side, he made his way to a hair shop nearby. The ladies there were very nice and trimmed his hair and beard a bit. They even asked permission to style his hair differently, and figuring, hell, he should look a little put together, he agreed. 

He left the salon feeling like a new man and, very painstakingly, sent Iris a text to let her know that he'd meet her at the apartment. After running one more errand, he heads back to their home.

Dashing home from the school, Iris is a little surprised Jason isn't home when she gets there. Figuring this is a good opportunity to clean herself up before their date, she grabs a quick shower and gets to work picking out an outfit and making herself look generally presentable.

Hauling out a new dress, she tugs it on and finishes up her makeup and hair just as she hears Jason come in. "Be out in a sec!" she chirps, straightening herself up before she emerges into the living room and stops dead in her tracks. He looks... amazing and her chest suddenly seems tight and breathing seems harder.

Jason unhooks the leash from Alfredo once he opens the door of the apartment. He hears Iris call out to him and takes the opportunity to hide his surprise for her somewhere in the living room. Once he tucks it away, he steps back hears Iris again. When he turns to look at her, he's actually stunned and gives her a grin.

"Wow yourself. Is that new?"

"Um... yeah. Picked it up a few days ago," she says, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, suddenly feeling shy. It feels like she's falling in love with him all over again, honestly. "You look... amazing. You got a haircut?"

He ducks his head, smiling a bit shyly. "I did, yeah. Just a little one. Trimmed up my beard too." He closes the gap between them, feeling the change in the atmosphere. Iris always looks amazing, but the way she's looking at him right now honestly makes Jason feel like he's jumped into the deep end. "You look beautiful, love."

Her cheeks heat up with a blush at the compliment and she ducks her head, hiding it behind the back of her hand. "It looks really good," she says, desperately trying to shove the blush away so she can kiss him. This isn't some silly first time crush. She's been living with him and they're in love so why does she feel like a school girl on a first date?

Jason smiles and leans in to kiss her. "Thank you. I'm glad you like it." He kisses and nuzzles her cheek, wanting to be close to her again. "Did you have a good day?"

Iris grins, leaning into his kisses and sliding her arms around his waist to bury her nose in the crook of his shoulder. He smells amazing on top of it all and she'd like nothing more than to just eat him up right now. But they have a date to get to. "Mhmm. How about you? How is the garage working out?"

He practically melts when she wraps her arms around his waist. Hugging Iris always makes Jason feel relaxed and at home. "Really well. I got to work on my bike a bit today." Pulling away to look her over again, Jason smiles and brushes a strand of hair off her shoulder. "Are you ready to get out of here?"

"Yes, please," she says, smiling up at him brightly. "Where are we going?"

That smile is the kicker and Jason looks at Iris like she's his world. "I thought we'd try that new steakhouse off Main. Nicer place but not too fancy."

Leaning up on her tip toes, Iris kisses him softly before reaching down to twine her fingers with his. "That sounds wonderful. Shall we go?"

He nods. "You're going to need a jacket tonight." Grabbing the one she'd previously set out, he helps Iris into the coat before he tugs his own on. After locking up the door, he takes her hand again and leads her out of the complex.

It's a really nice night, with a bit of a chilly breeze. Jason pulls Iris' arm into his own as they walk toward the steakhouse. "Any idea what you want tonight?"

Iris seizes the opportunity provided by the cold weather and leans into Jason's arm as the walk. "Mmmm... A steak, I think. Boring, but I've really been craving red meat lately," she frowns, chewing at her lip. "What about you?"

He smiles, enjoying the feeling of having Iris close to him. "Steak, baked potato, soup, crab, and maybe a salad." He looks down at Iris. "I'm really hungry."

"Clearly," she laughs, squeezing his arm. "You deserve it though. You work hard. I might need a dessert though..."

"You should see the food we eat on the boat," he chuckles. "Yeah? You can have whatever dessert you want."

That coaxes another blindingly bright smile out of her and she hugs his arm, excited as a child over it. "Yay! Something chocolatey, I think..." Iris hums, losing herself in the thought of dessert. "Maybe cheesecake..."

"Chocolate swirl cheesecake?" Jason grins down at her. "You really do have a sweet tooth. I'm sure they have plenty of desserts for you."

Jason slows down when they reach the entrance of the steakhouse. Once inside, he takes Iris' jacket and they follow the waiter to a table. After pulling a seat out for her, Jason hands their jackets to the waiter and sits in the chair next to Iris. "Looks like they're pretty crowded tonight. That should be a good sign." He opens up his menu, glancing over the food.

Iris ducks her head with a grin as she sits. "Such a gentleman..." she teases, picking up her menu and looking through it, mouth watering just looking at the selection. "God... Everything looks so wonderful."

"I gotta keep up appearances," he shrugs. "But don't get spoiled, I'll go back to treating you terribly as soon as we're out of here." If Jason wasn't hungry before, he sure is now. "I want everything..." he frowns.

"I'm hungrier than I thought," Iris admits with a grimace. "Maybe... a steak and a baked potato, for me?"

He laughs a little. "Steak and baked potato sound perfect. How do you like your steaks done?" Jason hasn't had a steak since he was a kid and he's more than looking forward to one tonight.

"Um... Normally medium but... rare kind of sounds better today?" she says, lips quirking into an embarrassed little smile. "How about you?"

"Is that a bit of my monster coming out?" He raises his brows at her with a teasing smile. "I'm not sure...I haven't had steak since I was with my family. I think the chef used to make them medium-rare. I think I'll try that." He closes his menu and slides it across the table. "Did you see their dessert section?"

"I think it might be," she admits, shaking her head. "I'll have to talk to Lara about it, I think. And god, yes. I looked at that before I looked at the rest of the food."

Iris isn't ashamed to admit she has a ridiculous sweet tooth and a habit of eating sweets when she shouldn't, and more often then she should. "I'm definitely having the chocolate cheesecake, at least."
