You got that James Dean day dream look in your eye {Iris}

 Jason had promised to take Iris out on a date one day. And now that everything seemed to be getting back to normal in town, they agreed that tonight would be the night. With a half day of work put in at the shop, Jason headed back to the apartment for a shower and a change of clothes when he saw his reflection in the mirror and realized just how much he'd let himself go. So with Alfredo by his side, he made his way to a hair shop nearby. The ladies there were very nice and trimmed his hair and beard a bit. They even asked permission to style his hair differently, and figuring, hell, he should look a little put together, he agreed. 

He left the salon feeling like a new man and, very painstakingly, sent Iris a text to let her know that he'd meet her at the apartment. After running one more errand, he heads back to their home.

"I'm good at everything?" Jason asks, looking at her in disbelief. "Aw, he won't fuss. Not when he's with us and at the zoo! John said he'll give me another call tomorrow with more details."

"Good. Oh, should I make room for them in the apartment? It isn't very baby proofed. I should probably buy plug covers and stuff," Iris babbles, making lists in her head as her food lays forgotten on the plate. "And those things that keep babies from opening cupboards?"

"They'll probably get a hotel. The apartment might be too crowded with four adults, a baby, a dog, and a goat," he grins. "We should probably baby-proof it though. They may not sleep in the same place, but they'll be around with Keaton a lot."

"Mmm... true," she frowns, digging into her steak once more. "Um... This may be a silly question but... Do they know we're living together now?"

"Uhh..." Jason sets his fork down, trying to think if that conversation has ever come up during the few times he's talked to John. "I don't...think so...you think they'd have a problem with that?"

"I don't know... You know him better than I do. Um," she grimaces slightly, jabbing her fork into her potato. "They won't have issues with me being a siren, will they...?"

Iris is asking questions Jason never thought about before. "He thought I ran away from home at ten. I don't really know John or any of them that well..." Chewing his lip, Jason busies himself by cutting up the rest of his steak. "I...honestly don't know. Maybe not John...and Felicity sounds pretty open...my parents will not approve."

She cringes at that. Its lovely that his brother and his wife will likely accept her but... Even though he isn't attached to his parents in the least, something about the idea of them rejecting her makes her a little sad.

"Ah..." she finally says, pushing her steak around her plate. "Um... I'm glad John and Felicity are coming anyway. We'll have to take them out for a good dinner here one night, okay?"

Jason can tell Iris is a little hurt that his parents wouldn't like her. Leaning over, he kisses her temple and gives her shoulder a soft squeeze. "Even if they were okay with sirens, they wouldn't approve of who you choose to date. You're perfect, don't let them get to you."

"We definitely will. And I'm sure they'd love to have some of your Greek cooking while they're around." Finishing of his plate, Jason changes the subject, because he hates that his parents have already hurt Iris in any way. "You wanna get dessert to go? I have a surprise for you at home."

Iris smiles, ducking her head at the show of affection. "A surprise?" she asks, quirking a brow at him. "All right. Dessert to go it is then."

Jason hands the dessert menu left on the table to Iris. He already knows what he wants. "The surprise is there's actually no surprise," he grins.

Iris picks out her dessert easily (chocolate caramel cheesecake), partially nudged into being faster by the idea of a surprise at home.

"You're not nice," she scolds, shaking her head with a matching grin. "Now hurry up and pick out what you want so we can go home."

"So impatient!" Jason orders a piece of triple chocolate cake. The waiter leaves for a short time before he comes back with their desserts in to-go boxes and the bill. After paying for everything, he helps Iris back into her coat and pulls his own on, linking his arm in hers as they walk back home.

"On second thought, let's forget the surprise. I don't think you'll like it."

Iris snuggles against his arm, enjoying the extra warmth against the slight chill in the air. "Don't you dare. You can't tell me you have a surprise for me and then not give it to me!"

"What if I just tell you what it is so it won't be a surprise anymore?" he asks, bitting his lip in an attempt to stop himself from smiling too much.

"No!" she protests, clapping a hand over his mouth to prevent him from telling her anything. "I want a surprise! Not just a random present!"

Jason stops walking and grins to himself as she covers his mouth. "Whmm mamd mt wmam am mement?"

She lowers her hand at that, frowning. "What?"

"I said, who said it was a present?" He raises his brows at her. "Surprises aren't always great."

"You. Are. The. Worst," Iris huffs, her breath making a little cloud in the night air. She folds her arms, glaring at him. "You are a bad tease, Mr. Wright. Bad."

Jason melts at her little temper tantrum and leans in to kiss her nose, which is freezing. "Come on, monster. I have an awesome surprise for you. No more teasing, promise."

Iris pouts but takes his arm again. "All riiiight... It better be super awesome though," she warns him, her tone playful now.

"It's the most awesome surprise in the world."

With her arm hooked in his, they enjoy the walk together back to the apartment. Jason unlocks the front door, ushering Iris inside where they remove their coats. It's nice and cozy warm in the apartment and after he sets the desserts in the fridge, Jason walks up behind Iris, wrapping his arms around her waist as he kisses the back of her shoulder. "I love you, baby. Ready for your surprise?"

Iris lets out a happy little noise at the affection, leaning back into his arms with a smug little smile. "I love you too. And I am more than ready at this point. Should I close my eyes?"

"Might wanna sit on the couch first," he grins, pressing a kiss to her hair. "Sit on the couch and then close your eyes."
