Wright Reunion [Pre-dated to Dec. 1st/Iris]

They've spent the whole morning cleaning the apartment and getting everything ready because today's a pretty special day for both Jason and Iris. His brother John is coming to visit again. And this time, he's bringing his wife and Jason's baby nephew. To say they're both nervous is a massive understatement. Jason's spent the past few days running errands for Iris, picking up food, ingredients, and baby supplies while Iris has worked on baby-proofing the whole apartment, something that's thrown Alfredo and Eric into a tizzy. It's been a bit of a chaos but more of an excited one. Jason can't wait to meet his namesake and he definitely can't wait to meet the woman crazy enough to marry his little brother.

After another round at the grocery store, Jason heads back to the apartment, lugging a ridiculous amount of bags with him as Alfredo jogs happily by his side. He took the dog this time, mostly to get him out of Iris' hair for a few, but also because he wanted to work out some of Alfredo's energy before a baby turns his would upside down. Racing Alfredo up the stairs of the complex, Jason balances the bags on one arm and lets himself into their home, closing the door behind him as Alfredo pants and makes his way to the water bowl.

"I'm back," he says by way of greeting as he carries the bags into the kitchen. There's no telling where Iris has gotten to or what project she's taken up in preparation for the visit.

Iris pokes her head out of the kitchen at the sound of the door opening and smiles. He hadn't even been gone that long but it was always a little exciting when Jason came home.

"Hey!" she chirps, skipping over and kissing his cheek before taking a bag from him and following him back into the kitchen. "I think I've finally gotten everything baby proofed. Corners are covered, plugs are too, wires are all tucked away... I've got locks on all the cupboards... Oh, and I made lasagne for dinner. That's okay, right? Its in the oven now but I can save it for later and make something else if they won't like it..."

Jason sets the rest of the bags on the counter before he turns to wrap his arms around Iris and kisses her properly. "Lasagne will be perfect tonight," he chuckles. "John's never been a picky eater." He rubs her arms before letting her go and works on unloading the bags into the cupboards and fridge.

"John texted while I was at the store. They've landed, so it'll be probably another hour before they get to the hotel and then he'll call."

She bounces on the balls of her feet at the news, unable to stand still in her excitement. "Ohhh! I can't wait for them to get here," she squeaks, trying to help him put away the groceries but probably just mostly getting in the way. "I should make dessert! Oh, but what? Should we run out and get a baby cot just in case Keaton gets fussy while they're here and needs a nap? What about baby toys? Do you think we got enough?"

Jason knows how excited Iris gets, especially when she's nervous. Which means she'll worry about everything. He sets the last of the groceries in the fridge and turns to place his arms on Iris' shoulders, leaning in to kiss her again. "A baby cot is a good idea. But I think we have plenty of toys for him. Remember, Felicity's probably packed his favourites with her anyway."

"What about a simple dessert?"

Iris slides her arms around his middle and rests her head against his chest, even though her nervous energy makes her want to move. Cuddling with Jason is more important.

"All right. That makes sense. Um... I can whip up a quick pie if you'll help peel apples?" she thinks, tilting her head. "And then we can run to the store to get a cot while the lasagne finishes?"

"Good plan." He kisses the top of her head and breaks away to grab the apples out of the fridge. "Everything looks great, by the way. You did a really good job, Iris." Jason grabs a small knife from the drawer and begins peeling the apples.

Blushing, Iris flaps a hand at him, getting out what she'll need for the crust and setting to work. "I just don't want to accidentally damage their baby, okay. Then they'll never visit again and you'll be sad and I'll be sad and it will be horrible," she jokes, glancing over her shoulder at him as she measures out her ingredients.

"There's no way you'll damage their baby," he laughs. "I'm sure John's already done all the damaging anyway. Besides, they'll take one look at everything you did to keep him safe and be super impressed with you and say "Dang Jason, you have the best girlfriend in the world." And I'll say "God, right? She's pretty cute too.""

Iris feels a blush creep over her cheeks and ducks her head even as she laughs. "Stop that!" she scolds playfully, bumping him with her hip. She's still not used to being complimented and she's fairly sure she never will be, even if she loves hearing them from him. "You helped with it all so you get as much of the praise as I do!"

"But I'm his boring brother and you keep me out of trouble. John's gonna want to give you credit for everything to try to suck up to you and keep you around." They may have grown up apart, but John today is still very much like the kid he knew so long ago.

Jason finishes peeling the apples and tossing them into a bowl which he sets on the counter in front of Iris. "Need help with anything else?"

"Pffft. I'm going to be around for as long as you want me around so he doesn't have to do all that," Iris laughs, tossing flour on the counter and putting the ball of dough down to roll it out. "Umm... Get out the pie plate? And the cinnamon and nutmeg, please!"

"Brother's don't think that way," he chuckles. Jason moves away from her side, fishing in the cabinet Iris has organized her baking supplies in to pull out the pie plate. "He and Evan will probably always wonder why the hell you're dating me." He sets the pie plate by Iris, adding the cinnamon and nutmeg to the counter.

Shaking her head, Iris carefully arranges the pie crust in the plate before moving on to spicing the apples. "Well, they're silly then. I'm dating you because you complete me and make me happier than I ever dreamed possible," she tuts, pulling out a jar of honey and adding some to the apples before layering them in the crust. "And because I love you more than anything else in the world."

Carefully, she sets the top layer of crust onto the pie and tucks it all away into the fridge. "There. Pie is done!"

Jason takes one of the unpeeled apples and bites into it, needing some kind of snack to tide him over til dinner, and watches Iris. When she says he completes her and makes her happy, his chest feels warm and he wraps his arms around her waist, kissing the back of her shoulder. "You're kind of the best person ever, you know that? Baby cot now?"

"Knock that off, you," Iris scolds, but a warm smile creeps across her face and she leans back into him. "Baby cot now. Let me grab my purse and coat and I'll be right back."

Wriggling out of his grip, she gives him one last kiss before skipping off to the bedroom and coming back, bundled up at the almost-winter chill. "Ready?"

Jason tugs on his coat, zipping it up as Iris returns. "I'm all ready." He opens the door, walking out of the apartment with his hand tucked comfortably in hers.

"Think Keaton will like us?" he asks as they head toward the store.

Iris pauses, mid-step, and stares at him for a moment. "Is that a possibility? What if he hates me?!" she squeaks, looking absolutely stricken. "What if I ruin their baby?!"

Jason immediately regrets his question. Iris is a worrier afterall. He steps in front of her, urging her to keep walking. "That was a silly question. You're not going to ruin their baby, love. And hey, if he's a bit fussy at first, that's understandable. He's a one-year old on a plane for a first time."

She sucks her lower lip between her teeth, chewing at it as she resumes walking. "All right..." Iris relents, though she's going to be worrying about it until they finally arrive. "Um, do you think we should get them a little present while we're out? We got stuff for Keaton but it might be nice to get them a little belated wedding gift or something, right?"

"He'll love you," he reassures her, pulling Iris close to hook an arm around her shoulders. Jason considers her question and nods. "That would be nice. Got anything in mind?"

Iris snuggles against his side, thinking as they walk. "I'm not sure... What do you normally get newlyweds that they might not already have?" she frowns. "Maybe a set of fancy wine glasses? Or one of those super fancy coffee machines?"

"Beats me," he frowns. Jason thinks as they arrive at the store and he opens the door for Iris, following her in. "Might be hard for them to take that stuff back to Alaska. Unless we send a gift later...Hey, what if we offer to give them a night off while they're here? Take care of Keaton for them, make it more of a vacation for the newlyweds?"

"Oh! I didn't realize I was dating a genius," Iris teases, grinning broadly as she grabs his arm again. Glancing around, she spots the crib area and starts to lead him over. "That's a brilliant idea! They can go see stuff that they wouldn't want to take a baby to and then have the night to themselves!"

Jason's cheeks colour, but he plays it off as the cold and not the fact that Iris is probably the first person to make him feel like he's come up with a pretty good idea. "Well if I was a newlywed and a new father, I'd definitely appreciate a night off. Siren Cove has a lot of nice places they could visit."

Stopping at one of the more basic cribs, he looks back to Iris. "We should get him something simple, right?"

"Mhmm... Maybe even one of those fold out fabric ones? That way we can store it away in a closet when they leave and have it when they visit again?" she suggests, poking through a display of baby blankets.
