Wright Reunion [Pre-dated to Dec. 1st/Iris]

They've spent the whole morning cleaning the apartment and getting everything ready because today's a pretty special day for both Jason and Iris. His brother John is coming to visit again. And this time, he's bringing his wife and Jason's baby nephew. To say they're both nervous is a massive understatement. Jason's spent the past few days running errands for Iris, picking up food, ingredients, and baby supplies while Iris has worked on baby-proofing the whole apartment, something that's thrown Alfredo and Eric into a tizzy. It's been a bit of a chaos but more of an excited one. Jason can't wait to meet his namesake and he definitely can't wait to meet the woman crazy enough to marry his little brother.

After another round at the grocery store, Jason heads back to the apartment, lugging a ridiculous amount of bags with him as Alfredo jogs happily by his side. He took the dog this time, mostly to get him out of Iris' hair for a few, but also because he wanted to work out some of Alfredo's energy before a baby turns his would upside down. Racing Alfredo up the stairs of the complex, Jason balances the bags on one arm and lets himself into their home, closing the door behind him as Alfredo pants and makes his way to the water bowl.

"I'm back," he says by way of greeting as he carries the bags into the kitchen. There's no telling where Iris has gotten to or what project she's taken up in preparation for the visit.

Jason takes one of the unpeeled apples and bites into it, needing some kind of snack to tide him over til dinner, and watches Iris. When she says he completes her and makes her happy, his chest feels warm and he wraps his arms around her waist, kissing the back of her shoulder. "You're kind of the best person ever, you know that? Baby cot now?"

"Knock that off, you," Iris scolds, but a warm smile creeps across her face and she leans back into him. "Baby cot now. Let me grab my purse and coat and I'll be right back."

Wriggling out of his grip, she gives him one last kiss before skipping off to the bedroom and coming back, bundled up at the almost-winter chill. "Ready?"

Jason tugs on his coat, zipping it up as Iris returns. "I'm all ready." He opens the door, walking out of the apartment with his hand tucked comfortably in hers.

"Think Keaton will like us?" he asks as they head toward the store.

Iris pauses, mid-step, and stares at him for a moment. "Is that a possibility? What if he hates me?!" she squeaks, looking absolutely stricken. "What if I ruin their baby?!"

Jason immediately regrets his question. Iris is a worrier afterall. He steps in front of her, urging her to keep walking. "That was a silly question. You're not going to ruin their baby, love. And hey, if he's a bit fussy at first, that's understandable. He's a one-year old on a plane for a first time."

She sucks her lower lip between her teeth, chewing at it as she resumes walking. "All right..." Iris relents, though she's going to be worrying about it until they finally arrive. "Um, do you think we should get them a little present while we're out? We got stuff for Keaton but it might be nice to get them a little belated wedding gift or something, right?"

"He'll love you," he reassures her, pulling Iris close to hook an arm around her shoulders. Jason considers her question and nods. "That would be nice. Got anything in mind?"

Iris snuggles against his side, thinking as they walk. "I'm not sure... What do you normally get newlyweds that they might not already have?" she frowns. "Maybe a set of fancy wine glasses? Or one of those super fancy coffee machines?"

"Beats me," he frowns. Jason thinks as they arrive at the store and he opens the door for Iris, following her in. "Might be hard for them to take that stuff back to Alaska. Unless we send a gift later...Hey, what if we offer to give them a night off while they're here? Take care of Keaton for them, make it more of a vacation for the newlyweds?"

"Oh! I didn't realize I was dating a genius," Iris teases, grinning broadly as she grabs his arm again. Glancing around, she spots the crib area and starts to lead him over. "That's a brilliant idea! They can go see stuff that they wouldn't want to take a baby to and then have the night to themselves!"

Jason's cheeks colour, but he plays it off as the cold and not the fact that Iris is probably the first person to make him feel like he's come up with a pretty good idea. "Well if I was a newlywed and a new father, I'd definitely appreciate a night off. Siren Cove has a lot of nice places they could visit."

Stopping at one of the more basic cribs, he looks back to Iris. "We should get him something simple, right?"

"Mhmm... Maybe even one of those fold out fabric ones? That way we can store it away in a closet when they leave and have it when they visit again?" she suggests, poking through a display of baby blankets.

"That's a really good idea. Find a blanket you like?" He looks around for one of the cribs and tugs the box out, adding it to their cart. As soon as he finishes moving, his phone rings in his pocket. Jason tugs his phone out of his pocket to check his texts, reaching over to grab Iris' attention by touching her elbow. "John says they're on their way. Taxi should be at the apartment in about 15."

Iris tugs a blanket out of the pile, shaking it out and turning it to show him an embroidered scene of mermaids and sea creatures. "It's perfect!" she squeaks, grinning broadly. "Let's pay and get home then! The lasagne should be finished soon anyway."

He smiles when Iris shows him the blanket she's found and reaches out to touch the soft material. "That really is perfect. I wish they had a bigger one for me," he laughs. They take their purchases to the register and pay, Jason tucking the box with the crib under his arm as they head back home.

Within a few minutes, they're back in the apartment and Jason pulls the crib out, setting it up in the bedroom. "They can lay Keaton down if he gets fussy at all tonight," he says, returning to the kitchen to see if Iris needs any help.

"You've got your own fish-lady to keep you warm if you need it," Iris teases, kissing his cheek and following him through the store.

Once they're back at the apartment, she heads straight for the oven, pulling out the lasagne when she sees its done. "Perfect!" she chirps, then pauses, eyes going wide. "Jason! Did I forget to sweep? What if there are dust bunnies and Keaton grabs one and eats it and gets sick?!"

Jason's trying to wrangle Alfredo out of his doggy bed on the floor of the living room and to the bedroom where he'll be out of the way until they can safely introduce him to Keaton when Iris starts to panic about dust bunnies. He points at the room, giving Eric a look, and the goat happily prances into the bedroom while Jason has to physically pick up Alfredo to get him to move.

"Babe, he won't eat dust bunnies. You keep this place clean anyway, there's probably not even dust anywhere." He hauls Alfredo into the bedroom and closes the door on the boys. Returning to Iris, he cups her face and kisses her. "Plus, they'll keep Keaton where everyone can see him. It's not like he'll be crawling into cabinets."

Clenching and unclenching her fists, she takes a moment to breathe and relax into his kiss. "All right. All right. I'm calm, I think. I just remember how delicate my cousin was as a baby and I worry..." she admits, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.

"I know," he smiles, kissing her hand. "The nerves will leave as soon as you see him, I promise. And we'll have a great dinner, a good talk with John and Felicity, and we'll play with Keaton. It'll be fun."

"All right," she says, giving him a soft smile. "I'll believe you on that."

Giving a soft sigh, Iris looks around the room. "Is there anything else we need to do? Or do you just wanna sit and wait for them?"

"Everything's ready, love. We can just sit down and relax for a bit." He leads Iris back to the couch where he falls back on the cushions, pulling her down with him. Jason wraps his arms around her, cuddling Iris to his chest, just when the buzzer sounds and Jason perks up. "Damn John's timing."

She's just about to relax against him when the buzzer rings and Iris shoots up, rolling off the couch in a flash and tugging at Jason's hands. "Come on!! They're here!" she squeaks, grinning like an idiot as she skips to the buzzer to let them in. That done, Iris hovers around the door, looking like an overexcited puppy, waiting for its people to come home.

Jason chuckles as she pulls him up off the couch. He lingers behind Iris at the door, playing with the ends of her hair a bit nervously as they wait for the knock at the door. Finally there's a soft tapping before an obnoxious one.

"Are you not letting us in because Jason ate all the food already?" John asks through the door. Jason rolls his eyes and moves to open the door. He smiles and John steps through, hugging his brother before he moves to Iris and pulls her into another hug.

"Good to see you again, Iris," he says as Jason disappears through the door to hug and then help his new sister-in-law. "And thank you for having us over for dinner tonight."

The next person to walk through the door is Felicity, a baby bag on one shoulder and Keaton on her hip. She pushes past John, a bright smile on her face. "Is this Iris? I'm Felicity, John's wife and saint of this family."

Jason follows her back into the apartment, staring at Keaton with a goofy grin. "God, he's another blonde.

Iris lets out a soft squeak at the hug. "Hi!" she manages to get out, suddenly feeling very shy but also enamoured of the baby. Her fingers twitch slightly with the urge to hold him. "You guys should, um... come in. Sit down! You must be tired."

She skips out of the way of the group, trying to find somewhere to stand where she won't hamper their movement. "Can I get you guys a drink or anything? Dinner is ready whenever you are!"

"Oh, I'm starving," John says as he takes Keaton in his arms.

Felicity moves into the living room, looking around before she turns to Jason. "I thought you had a dog and a goat..." She looks a little disappointed to not see them and Jason smiles.

"They're in the bedroom. Didn't want Alfredo jumping all over you and Keaton. Come on, you can visit them real quick." Jason squeezes Iris' arm and gives her a kiss on the cheek before he leads Felicity to the bedroom to meet Alfredo and Eric.

John bounces Keaton in his hands and turns to look at Iris with a knowing smile. "Wanna hold him?"
