Lbr this is just about Alfredo [for Davin]

It's been a few days since shit went down at the shop and Mel and Hank were canned. Jason's been in contact with Davin though, his boss popping up on his phone to ask about the shop. His cheek is still bruised, but he's pretty much healed now. He's been more worried about Davin's recovery though. The guy obviously doesn't like to be away from the shop, and Jason gets the feeling he's going to try to cut his recovery short and get back to work. That's the last thing he needs to do right now.

So after he closes up the shop Friday afternoon, Jason decides to pay Davin a visit. He's had Alfredo with him, just in case he was busy in the back and a customer came in (the dog loves to bark when he sees someone) or if Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum decide to show their faces again. Jason doubts they ever will, but he liked having Alfredo's company.

Locking up the front door, Jason stops by Quill to grab some food and treats for Alfredo. Once he's run his errands, he trudges through the town to Davin's apartment, Alfredo close to his heels. He approaches the door and knocks a few times. "Dav! It's me." Turning to look at Alfredo, he raises a brow. "You behave. No jumping. He's hurt."

Wright Reunion [Pre-dated to Dec. 1st/Iris]

They've spent the whole morning cleaning the apartment and getting everything ready because today's a pretty special day for both Jason and Iris. His brother John is coming to visit again. And this time, he's bringing his wife and Jason's baby nephew. To say they're both nervous is a massive understatement. Jason's spent the past few days running errands for Iris, picking up food, ingredients, and baby supplies while Iris has worked on baby-proofing the whole apartment, something that's thrown Alfredo and Eric into a tizzy. It's been a bit of a chaos but more of an excited one. Jason can't wait to meet his namesake and he definitely can't wait to meet the woman crazy enough to marry his little brother.

After another round at the grocery store, Jason heads back to the apartment, lugging a ridiculous amount of bags with him as Alfredo jogs happily by his side. He took the dog this time, mostly to get him out of Iris' hair for a few, but also because he wanted to work out some of Alfredo's energy before a baby turns his would upside down. Racing Alfredo up the stairs of the complex, Jason balances the bags on one arm and lets himself into their home, closing the door behind him as Alfredo pants and makes his way to the water bowl.

"I'm back," he says by way of greeting as he carries the bags into the kitchen. There's no telling where Iris has gotten to or what project she's taken up in preparation for the visit.

[CIRCLE OF SIRENS] Taken at the Docks

It's early Saturday morning, around 4am, when Jason kisses a half-asleep Iris and says his goodbye before he heads out of the apartment building. He agreed to work this Saturday on the boat, get some extra cash for the upcoming holiday, even if he'd rather still be in bed, wrapped around his girlfriend. Jason pulls his coat closed and zips it up as he walks through Siren Cove, the town quiet and most of its residents still asleep. It's a normal-looking Saturday morning, even with the fog that rolls in near the docks. It's really not that uncommon for Jason to walk though a thick fog so early in the morning.

The closer he moves toward it though, the weirder the fog feels. It looks normal, but it feels...different, heavy. And what draws him toward it is a voice. A voice he knows, crisp, clear, and beautiful, singing to him louder as he gets closer. It's Iris, humming one of her little tunes she usually sings, especially when she's happily cooking. Before he knows it, the world around him changes and he seems to walk through some kind of door. When he passes through the door, Jason immediately recognizes where he is. He's in his family's home in Alaska. Jason pauses and looks around. This isn't right. But Iris' singing pulls him further into the home, until he finds her in the kitchen, cooking Thanksgiving dinner with...his mom, his sister Ana, and his brother John.

"There he is!" John beams, looking up from a bowl of pie filling. Iris is hovering behind him, adding a few ingredients and instructing him on how to stir, but she looks up and smiles when she sees Jason. She crosses the length of the kitchen in just a few strides and throws her arms around Jason, nuzzling his cheek affectionately.

"There's my favourite husband." Her nose wrinkles in that cute way Jason loves and he feels his chest tighten when she calls him her husband. Ana is the next to move toward him and wow. She's beautiful, mature, and her smile is kind and inviting. This Ana is different from when they were children. She pulls Jason into a hug, one he's longed for for almost twenty years. They were rivals as kids. But the way she hugs him now feels like she loves him and sees him as her equal.

"About time you got home, sailor," she teases. "Iris insisted on making everything you love."

And then his mother appears before him and Jason instinctively takes a step back from her. She tilts her head and holds out her arms. "Sweetheart, come here. It's bad enough I'm third in line to get a hug from you." And before he can protest, his mom's pulled him into her and it's...overwhelming. Jason sinks into her arms. He's never been hugged by her like this before. There's love there instead of disappointment. "Now, go with Iris and wash up. We're eating in ten."

With a kiss on his cheek, his mom leaves him to go back to work on the feast and Jason feels a bit empty when she lets him go. But Iris takes his arm, folding her hand into his. "Come on, hon." She tugs him out of the kitchen and toward his old bedroom. Jason feels...complete right now. He's confused, but he has Iris and his family actually accepting him. But as Iris opens the door of his room, the memories he has of the bedroom fade and are replaced by darkness and dizziness. Jason feels Iris' grip slip away and he reaches for her again, but when he turns, she's gone. Instead he's met with a damp wall and he feels his breath leave his body as the coldness of his surroundings finally hits him.

Blinking for a few minutes, Jason looks around. He's definitely not in his family's home. And he's not at the docks. He's in a cave with a few other people, everyone looking confused and more than a little scared.

ooc: Jason never showed up for work at the docks or later that day at the shop with Davin. The captain of the boat would probably notice his absence and contact some people after they returned to the dock to see if he was alright~

You got that James Dean day dream look in your eye {Iris}

Jason had promised to take Iris out on a date one day. And now that everything seemed to be getting back to normal in town, they agreed that tonight would be the night. With a half day of work put in at the shop, Jason headed back to the apartment for a shower and a change of clothes when he saw his reflection in the mirror and realized just how much he'd let himself go. So with Alfredo by his side, he made his way to a hair shop nearby. The ladies there were very nice and trimmed his hair and beard a bit. They even asked permission to style his hair differently, and figuring, hell, he should look a little put together, he agreed.

He left the salon feeling like a new man and, very painstakingly, sent Iris a text to let her know that he'd meet her at the apartment. After running one more errand, he heads back to their home.

the most beautiful bike in the....well it soon will be. {Davin}

Jason still can believe Iris bought him a bike, his very own bike. But she did and it needs a little more than some TLC. The handlebars are bent, the paint more than sad, the tires need replaced, as well as a bunch of interior problems. But she's beautiful and Jason feels incredibly lucky to have her.

So he's asked around with the other guys at the docks, striking up their regular conversations about the weather and the catch for the day. Everyone had the same recommendation. They all told him to go ONLY to Oceanside Auto and to ask for a guy named Davin. "He's amazing. He fixed my vet after I thought I totaled it." "He's fair too, willing to help out where he can."

That's really all it took and now Jason's spent the morning wheeling this sorry looking (but lovable) bike from the apartment to the auto place. When he gets there, he looks around, probably looking a bit like a lost puppy. He worked as a mechanic a few times in his life, but never long term. He knows his way around an engine, but he doesn't have the right tools or know how for this job.

"Uh...excuse me?" He approaches a mechanic who is bent under the hood of a car. "I'm looking for Davin."

After Summer Bash from Hell [Backdated, Closed]

Warning: NSFW probs lol

It doesn't normally take long to put out the fire in a fire-pit, but Jason's a bit distracted at the moment. He wants to get downstairs and this stupid fire is keeping him from that. Iris has already gathered up all the s'more supplies and is waiting at the rooftop door for him and she looks eager to get out of here as well.

Finally the last of the flames die out and Jason's comfortable the fire won't rekindle. He grabs the blanket and pillows off the bench and follows Iris to the door.

"Alright," he smiles. "Ready when you are?"

Home {Iris}

After the rescue boats arrived, Iris and Jason, along with every other survivor rescued from the island, were taken to SC Memorial. It was only after he saw Iris fall asleep from the medication that Jason allowed himself to be taken away by doctors. They took x-rays to make sure the cut hadn't gone too deep and damaged anything more than just his skin. Satisfied his stitches were well done and all he needed was rest, the doctors gave Jason a bed and knocked him out for the evening. Once he woke up, they re-wrapped his bandages and released Jason.

He's been awake for about an hour now, waiting outside Iris' room as the doctors do their final checks before they're willing to release her. He's nervous, drumming his fingers against the frame of the hospital door. He just wants Iris to walk out of that room, cast on her foot, and pain free. He just wants to get her home, because she needs to be home.

In all my dreams I drown [Iris-Backdated] [CLOSED]

[Backdated to the morning after the beach party]

It's a pretty normal morning, as normal as 3am at a fishing dock off the coast of Maine can be. The wind's picked up significantly since yesterday, something the boys on the boat take notice of. High winds mean more hazardous conditions for an already hazardous job.

Jason leaves Alfredo in his usual spot at the bench on the dock. A quick kiss on the muzzle and a ruffle of the dog's head and Jason boards the boat. He eats his breakfast, a large bowl of oatmeal with bananas and three muffins, in the cabin quickly as the boat's captain barks out every worker's orders for the day. Jason's job is his usual as of late. With the end of the season fast approaching, they're placing pots into the water again, a last effort to hit it rich. This means they have stacks of pots on deck, reaching ten high. This also means the old crane gets stuck and ropes get tangled together. This means someone gets to climb the unbearably high stacks to help untangle the pots and help hook the crane to each cage. And this is Jason's job.

He's not afraid of heights, he trusts his crew, and his strength allows him to quickly scale the stack anytime one of the pots gets caught. He's also one of the few on the boat patient enough to sit atop a cage and carefully untie the knots made slippery by the water. He doesn't mind this new task, he actually enjoys it. It's a weird rush to climb that high and the view? Unbeatable. He's just thankful today, the skies seem clear. Even if the wind is high.

After a few hours, the boat arrives at its fishing spot, the crew has eaten, and ten pots are baited and tossed onto the sea bed before the crane moves to pick up a cage and accidently pulls two from the stack. The man operating the crane, Miguel, gives Jason a nod, and he tosses the bait in his hands back into a bucket, moving quickly to climb the stack.

Speed is integral in this job. The quicker they are, the more pots they set, the more pots they pull, the more catch they have. The captain has a very specific schedule for each day and goals for how many pots they need to have set by the time they reach shore again. In no time, Jason has climbed the stack of cages and straddles the second pot that was accidentally pulled. He tugs his gloves off with his teeth, quickly untangling the rope and giving Miguel a thumbs up to let him know he's free. As Miguel hooks the crane onto the pot again, pulling it free, their captain gets on the bull horn.

"Jay! Stay up there and hook the pots. Have a feelin' they're a mess." Jason gives the man a nod and spends the next hour of work on top of the stack, the wind and the waves tipping their boat back and forth.

It makes for a harder job, the ebb and flow of the waves. It's even harder when the waves pick up so much they're now splashing over the side of the vessel. Jason, like the others on deck, pulls his hood up over his head, not that it'll really do much good. He's already soaked. He reaches out and grabs another pot as the crane lifts it away from the stack. It isn't tied well and with the wind, the cage is swinging precariously over the men on the deck below. The last thing he wants is the rope to come undone. He tightens the knot, gives Manuel the sign, and moves out of the way, balancing himself on the next stack.

It's then that he hears shouting, quickly followed by the boat tilting almost completely onto its side. Jason grabs onto the metal of the pots, cutting his fingers on the harsh wire, but he saves himself from slipping off his feet and onto the deck below. The boat rights itself, but just as he gets back to his feet, he realizes he's an idiot and he's forgotten something very big and very important.

The crane.

With the drastic shift in the boat, the crane has started swinging wildly, pot still very much attached. There's not much poor Manuel can do to get it under control. And his eyes go wide and he cries out just when Jason stands because that's when the pot swings and hits the man square in the gut, causing Jason to stumble back and slip right off the side of the boat.

He hears the distant sound of a commotion before the rush of water hits his ears and his hearing is muffled. He can't breath. Jason knows he just got the wind knocked out of him and that's kind of something a human needs in the water. All he can think before he loses consciousness is "Thank God I'm not in Alaska."

Let Me Tell You a Story. [open]

TLDR background  )

It's now been two months since John left Alaska. With his natural Wright charm, he managed to get info on his brother's criminal record, something that honestly surprised him. He learned that Jason left Alaska a few years ago, and he felt like a damn idiot. Jason had been in the same state, admittedly a large one, this entire time and he couldn't find him with a simple scrying session??

The new information led him out of Alaska and over the course of several no-name towns throughout the north, John finally ends up in a place called Siren Cove. If his information is correct, all based on police records, Jason managed to work his way across the damn nation in just two years. John dumps his bag and his body on the bed of the hotel and opens a file. Jason's trail goes dead here. The last record the police have is a missing persons case his brother apparently reported. Ironic, really. He just hopes Jason hasn't up and left again already.

After a phone call to Felicity and Keaton, John realizes he hasn't eaten in almost eight hours. He runs a hand over his face, exhausted from so much travel in such a short period of time. How the hell did his brother manage it? He wills himself off the bed, stuffing his wallet into his back pocket before he's out the door. He wanders through the center of town, keeping an eye out for a good place to eat. It's nice here. Beautiful, really. He likes the feel of the town and instantly knows there's magic here. He stops in at a place called Quill and grabs a burger and a drink, settling himself down at a table outside as he flips through his notes and files again. As he takes a bite of his burger, he looks out at the sea nearby and thinks Jason would absolutely love this place. As kids, Jason would always take him down to the water and taught John how to swim.

He'll start asking around today. Next person he sees, he'll ask. He's not sure what his brother looks like now, but surely he's made enough of an impression on somewhere here. He's praying someone here took notice of Jason. He rolls up his trash in a ball and tosses it in the trash can, grabbing up his papers and heading out toward the boardwalk nearby.

"Excuse me? Could I bother you for some help?"

Fighting [IRIS/OPEN]

It's been a rough week, to say the least. After coming back from his weekend job on a fishing vessel catching crab, he returned to scour the town for the two missing homeless men, Wulfric and Eddie, aka Edbyrd. He first noticed their absence last Friday before he got onto the boat, usually chatting with both before he left shore for the day. Neither appeared at their usual breakfast spot, but Jason had shrugged it off, thinking the men simply moved on past the little daily routine they had settled in. But they were still missing when he returned on Sunday. He spent his entire day looking around town for them, asking a few of the other homeless people, but nothing. No one had seen anything. No one knew where the two men were.

A lot of the men and women can't work like he can, doing manual labor for less than minimum wages. So anytime he gets an extra penny, he's started looking out for their little community in Siren Cove. Today's no different as Jason heads into Quill, spending twenty bucks on two boxes of day old muffins and bagels. The person behind the register even throws in a few extra treats. He thanks them then heads over a few blocks, down two alleys, and into a small clearing just on the edge of town behind an old building. Here a few of Siren Cove's homeless have set up residence, blankets and makeshift shelters all over the clearing.

When he arrives though, there's someone yelling at a man Jason knows, Anthony. The man is shoving a finger in Anthony's chest, calling him all sorts of terrible names, and swearing at him left and right. Jason hands the boxes to a woman he knows as Candy, wandering up to the commotion. He interrupts politely, asking if he can help the other man with anything.

"This bastard stole forty bucks from me!" the man yells, turning his anger onto Jason now. His face is beet red and Jason holds up his hands to show he doesn't mean to threaten the other man in any way.

"Are you sure, sir? I know Anthony and he's not that kind of guy."

And that's when the man wheels around, gesturing at all the people in the clearing. He calls them scums who need to get jobs, turning back to Anthony to call him a name Jason just has an automatic response to. He reels back and punches the man in the face.

It's stupid. And he'll be the first to admit that he's on edge this week, worried and now overprotective of this little community since two of its own have gone missing. He shakes his fist, wincing, and starts to apologize when the other man gets up and takes at swing at Jason. Before he knows it, they're in a full on brawl. The guy can punch hard, but Jason's faster. He's rusty, but his old reflexes kick in. It's almost like he never left the ring. He's about to hit the guy again after he uses the same word as before when someone hauls him up by the back of his shirt, an impressive feat considering Jason's size.

"What the hell is going on here, Jesus Christ?" a voice growls from behind him. Jason quickly looks over his shoulder and curses himself. He sees a police uniform and the badge on the man's chest says Middleton. The other man tries to explain, growing angrier with every breath and Jason really, really wants to hit him again, but he's being held back by the officer. But the dumbass screws up and doesn't clean up his language. Office Middleton's scowl goes slack, his tension on Jason's arm loosening.

"Aren't you going to press chargers?" the man yells at the officer. Middleton shrugs, letting go of Jason altogether.

"Know what? I am." The officer steps around Jason, grabbing hold of the other man. "Disrupting the peace and being a real asshole," he says dryly, moving the man's arms behind his back. Jason's shocked as the officer pulls the man away from the clearing, shoving him very unceremoniously into the back of his cop car. And suddenly his body feels weak and exhausted. He's bleeding, his ribs are bruised, and his knuckles are busted. He doesn't look pretty, but neither does the other guy. Jason checks on Anthony, making sure the man is okay before he excuses himself, slowly making his way back to the cabin at the community garden where he's left Alfredo. He kneels down onto the steps of the cabin, nursing his right hand. What a great week.

HIATUS

Time for a hiatus for moi~ I'll be working 12 hour days this weekend and when I get off work, I'll be crashing immediately. I might be able to return Sunday, but that depends on if we have to come in another day and when my family's father's day plans are. Safe bet, I'll be very very quiet until Monday (maybe even Tuesday 8I). If it's slow, I might be able to do a few tags, but internet's super crappy at work. Goodbye cruel world :'(

Anywho! Excuses for my chars being gone:
  • Riley - She'll be spending the weekend meeting investors and working up plans to revamp Knights of the Round Pie.
  • Grant - He'll be away for the weekend to visit his parents out of state for father's day. He's simply thrilled about it.
  • Yura - She's busy sunbathing.
  • Kennedy - She'll be painting non-stop this weekend, wracked with visions.
  • Jason - He's picked up a three-day voyage on a fishing vessel for some extreme crabbing and extreme $$$.
Don't forget me while I'm gone :'(

Beginnings [OPEN]

It's a shitty way to start your day--waking up stiff, cold, and wet from a morning drizzle. Jason blinks, groans, and rubs his eyes, trying to quickly adjust to the blinding sun. As soon as he's awake, Alfredo is on his lap, soaking wet but happy all the same. The dog licks some dirt off his face while Jason chuckles. "No, Alfredo. I'm not food."

He sits up, stripping off his jacket and stuffing it into his backpack as he speaks to Alfredo. "Think we could spring for some coffee today? It'd be nice to have something hot." He reaches down to pat the dog's head as he wags his tail, a gesture Jason takes as a push toward coffee. He double checks his wallet and grins. "Coffee it is then."

The new town is easy enough to navigate and pretty soon, he's found what appears to be a coffee shop. Quill. Looks like any other small town coffee shop he's visited, but he's pleasantly surprised when he steps inside after tethering Alfredo to a bike rack outside. It looks like a nice place he can stow away during a rainy day.

He orders coffee, black, and a muffin, going back outside to sit on the curb next to Alfredo. As he sips the coffee, humming happily, he holds out the muffin for the dog to nibble on.
